Pelle de Calvi is an Italian town of 213 inhabitants in the province of Bergamo, in Lombardy. Located in the upper Val Brembana, it is about 40 kilometers north of the Orobic capital. A small village nestled between the mountains, it does not include episodes of depth in its history. History made from the daily life of its inhabitants, always dedicated to the work that nature offers, from breeding to the production of charcoal. As with many other nearby villages, however, the first stable settlements in this area are thought to date back to the time of the barbarian invasions, when the populations subjected to raids took refuge in remote places, sheltered from the impetus of the conquering hordes. The toponym instead should derive from the vulgarized Latin Molleus, indicating a damp place, while the word De 'Calvi was added in 1863, with Regio Decreto 28 June 1863, n. 1,426. There is little information about the town until the Middle Ages, when it was placed in the fiefdom belonging to the Ghibelline family of the Visconti, who gave permission, to every person belonging to their faction, to kill a Guelph. Despite this, there are no documents that attest to struggles that took place on the municipal land. During the sixteenth century the town, after having become part of the Republic of Venice, was included in the administrative district of the Brembana Valley Beyond the Goggia, which included all the municipalities of the upper valley, with the capital located in Valnegra and enjoyed relief tax and numerous privileges. At that time the Calvi family came to settle and created their own hunting reserve. The descendants of the family were integrated with the other inhabitants, so much so that even today it is possible to notice a discontinuity between the buildings, some of which are peasant and rural, others influenced by Venetian architecture. In 1927 the fascist regime made a great work of consolidation among several municipalities of the Kingdom of Italy. It was also the case of Moio, who found himself attached to the nearby Valnegra, Piazza Brembana and Lenna in a single municipality called San Martino de 'Calvi [6]. Only in 1956 the municipalities separated again, assuming the current conformation. The municipal territory offers excellent glimpses, thanks to the natural context in which it is immersed. There are numerous possibilities for excursions in the surrounding mountains, suitable for every need: from the beginner to the most experienced and demanding. Very particular is the parish church, dedicated to San Mattia. Built at the end of the 15th century and restored two centuries later.
